Living the Dream!

Last week I had the pleasure of meeting with Eric Yuan CEO of Zoom.us. On a whim I asked him to co-lead a webinar with me to support virtual community. We realized through our conversation that both of us are committed to happiness. Eric believes in the service profit chain; he and his team "Deliver Happiness to Zoom users". At Metaspire our leadership and team building programs have a stake of "When we are happier at work, we are happier at home". 

In the book "Leadership 2030: The Six Megatrends You Need to Understand to Lead Your Company Into the Future" authors Georg Vielmetter and Yvonne Sell discuss how as we continue in the digital age the lines between our work and home-life blur.  Further they discuss how multi-dimensional leadership will continue to melt away the 1950s style of Command and Control or Top Down Leadership. We have seen great results with Co-Active Leadership: Five Ways to Lead by Henry and Karen Kimsey- House and use their model within most of our leadership development and team building programs.

As a lone ranger for most of my life, I continue to feel the need for effective leadership. I am not sure if this is what is happening for you. Is it?  For me this is the concept of Crew which is

1. I know what you want Captain and I will do my part in helping you get there and visa versa.
2. 1 + 1 = chicken; meaning when we get together and effectively collaborate good things beyond our wildest dreams.
3. "We-Speak" coming from the "How will We...." perspective. Which often means that we must be brave enough to  a. "speak the unspoken” in a loving way and b. practice "Go-Set-Ready" (in a likely awkward  fashion being okay with failing because that means we learned).

Over the past few years I've interviewed successful AND prosperous business leaders. You know what they ALL have in common? Well first, they Align on what they value AND they know what the market values. Second, they all have a good Crew! Third they know when to Exit or Execute their business strategy. Yes once we have those three things we can have a Meaningful AND Prosperous work-life!
