The Role of Strategic Architecture

With massive regulatory and economic challenges we face today, many organizations strive to align organizational strategies with architectural decisions. For most organizations, Information Technology driven efforts have not been effective in driving architectural decisions. A greater emphasis must be made in the development and socialization of the organization’s Strategic Architecture, led by Business Experts and supported by Information Technology.

In the coming months, I will be blogging on the role of Strategic Architectures in Business Process Improvement for Metaspire Consulting. My industry experiences range from Manufacturing to Telecommunications, Food, and most recently, Health Care. What is the Metaspire Consulting Strategy Model?

Our approach is to leverage the ProVision® Strategy Model to facilitate strategic discussions.  In this way, business leaders can visualize the work that they are doing and the associate the artifacts to support that work.  We may collect a number of artifacts that support the strategic thinking of the organization (capabilities, plans, problems, opportunities, etc.).  We then work with the leaders to build a strategy model around that thinking.  The strategy model can then be leveraged as a strategic view for business leaders to initiate discussions like strategic alignment, goal setting etc. If ProVision® process modeling software is used, we will have links down to all of the associated objects including workflows that support that strategy.
